Vagabond Caravan Beat Poetry & Open Mic
Beat Poet Laureate Mark Lipman is rolling into town, and will be reading his poetry and talking about his "Furtherer" adventures, alongside local poets D.L. Lang, Nina Serrano, and more -- and an open mic for more poetry as well!
Mark is touring the US and Canada in his bus named "Furtherer," spreading poetry, connectivity, awareness and joy on every stop, and we're lucky he's stopping in Vallejo! Our local poets will be joining him, and there will be an open mic to share your poetry as well.

Disguised as a young man, Ganymede, with her cousin Celia, Fredrick's only daughter, disguised as Aliena, they follow the banished Duke, Rosalind's father, with the help of the court fool Touchstone. Along the way they meet Orlando, who has fallen in love with Rosalind at court, while the shepherdess Phebe has fallen in love with Ganymede (Rosalind in disguise), dashing the hopes of Silvius, who is in love with Phebe. In the mean time more lovers join the confusion as Oliver falls for Aliena, Touchstone for Audrey, who also finds herself pursued by the shepherd, William.

The Importance of Being Earnest
A farcical comedy exploring the tangled affairs of two young men about town who lead double lives to evade unwanted social obligations.
This play, celebrated for its wit and repartee, parodies contemporary dramatic norms, gently satirises late Victorian manners, and introduces – in addition to the two pairs of young lovers – the formidable Lady Bracknell, the fussy governess Miss Prism and the benign and scholarly Canon Chasuble.
Jazz Johnson Trio
Bay Area saxophonist and composer Jazz Johnson has performed with top ensembles including the award-winning SFJAZZ All-Stars, earning accolades from DownBeat Magazine, the Louis Armstrong Foundation, and major festivals like Folsom, Campana, Santa Cruz, and Stanford. He has studied with renowned educators Dann Zinn, Mary Fettig, and Howard Wiley, and is currently continuing his musical journey at the Manhattan School of Music while performing at New York venues including Smalls, The Roxy, the Village Vanguard, and Mezzrow. His debut CD drops January 15.

Greg Rahn’s piano style is a silky-smooth blend of jazz, blues, and roots music. Speaker Series - Reuse and Reconciliation: Tiffany's Ecclesiastical Designs and Civil War Memory
This fascinating lecture will begin as Tiffany expert, Dr. Kaylee Rideout, Curator at the Morse Museum, will look at the history of Tiffany Studios before exploring many of the Tiffany-designed St. Peter's Chapel windows as part of a larger network of commissioned sites featuring similar designs, from New York to Virginia to Texas, in the decades following the Civil War. Join Dr. Kaylee after the lecture for a wine reception.
This lecture is co-sponsored with Alibi Books, which will have related books onsite for purchase.
The Art of Light: Tiffany Stained Glass at St. Peter’s Chapel Tour & Reception
This special private tour and wine reception will be led by expert Dr. Kayli Reneé Rideout, the Hugh F. McKean Curator at the renowned Morse Museum in Winter Park, Florida. Featuring renowned singer and stage performer Natalie Amaya, Ronstadt Revolution consists of veteran musicians who have played onstage with Elvis Presley, Alvaro Torres, Sheryl Crow, Tina Turner and many others.
Natalie and her skilled band will take you on an unforgettable journey through Linda’s extensive musical catalog, including her songs of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s, all the way through to her Spanish language albums of the ’90s. Be prepared to sing along, and don’t forget your dancing shoes!

The Great Vallejo Race 2025

The first mention of a race came in 1925, when PICYA organized a cruise from Berkeley to Vallejo on a Saturday to be followed by a race back on Sunday. This is probably the official origin of the Great Vallejo Race, now reputed to be one of the largest inland regattas in the United States, usually drawing 200+ boats annually. Now under the aegis of the Yacht Racing Association (YRA) and hosted by the Vallejo Yacht Club, the two-day race marks the official opening of the San Francisco Bay racing season.
The race most often starts near the Berkeley Circle on Saturday morning, rounds a single weather mark near Alcatraz, and then heads to Vallejo, usually under spinnaker for the remainder of the race. The challenge is to maintain speed through the shadow of Angel Island, find the best combination of wind and current past the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and East Brother Light Station, and then avoid the mud shoals on the east side of the San Pablo Bay. Depending on the day, the passage can be a challenging breeze (intentional pun), or a miserable drifter, complicated—as always—by the currents, no matter its direction.
As the boats enter Carquinez Strait, they bunch together, making the turn into Mare Island Strait. Because of the topography of Mare Island, as well as the fact that it sits at the mouth of the Napa River, local knowledge (or many years of sailing the race) can make the difference as the yachts maneuver toward the finish line on the Vallejo city waterfront. Winds vary from light to heavy and become exceedingly shifty. By the time they enter the strait, many of the crews are let's say "over-relaxed" by sun, surf, and suds. This is where the fun really starts! In the mad dash for the finish line, sharp crews can usually pick off several places with close attention to trim, wind, and current. Just be sure to check your charts and keep a close watch on your depth sounder!
